Who we fund, and where

We make competitive grants to nonprofit colleges and universities, as well as 501(c)(3) community-based organizations, in the following states:

  • Wisconsin
  • Minnesota
  • Ohio
  • Iowa
  • Arkansas
  • North Dakota

Each grant seeks to solve a specific problem, by nurturing promising ideas brought forward by colleges, other nonprofits and researchers. Each new grant opportunity spells out who may apply, and from where, accordingly.

Our Process

Interested in applying? You're in the right place.

Our application process is a chance for us to get to know each other. We'll tell you what we're looking for with each new grant and why—and explain how we'll be making our funding decisions. We'll ask you to share data about your students and how you support them, and detail your plans for attacking the problem at the heart of our grant. This includes projecting outcomes to be measured over the course of the grant.

We ask a lot of those applying for our grants, and we try to give a lot in return. We present detailed guidelines and informative webinars for those thinking about applying for our grants, and post recordings in case you miss anything. Our program managers are accessible, and can help you assess how your capabilities might align with our grant opportunities.
